Mission Statement

I think of myself as a new Christian. I didn’t grow up in the church. I was in my mid 30s when my young children began asking me questions that I couldn’t answer. Looking for those answers is how I began my Christian journey. I was lucky to be led to a church that was welcoming and that fostered an environment for seekers to feel comfortable as they learned and as they built their relationship with God. They set me on the path to find God and give my heart to Christ.

But, here’s the thing….. even though I now know what it feels like to have God in my life and Christ in my heart…..I can still remember what it felt like when I didn’t! I can still remember the emptiness and the aloneness. Back then, I didn’t realize what was ‘off’ in my life; I just knew that I was missing something.

Because I can still remember, I have a special place in my heart for those who are in the place I was. Who haven’t made a true connection with God and who don’t fully understand who Jesus is to them. Those who are seeking! Some of you may not even realize that you are seeking. You just feel a little ‘off’. Or, maybe, you are just curious about what all the hoopla is about.

Heritage UMC has adopted their mission as; Offering Fellowship and Worship, Promoting Spiritual Growth, and Sharing the light of the Lord with all.

My personal mission is to reach out to those who are like I was; searching, seeking, lost. I believe that I cannot force people to hear a message that they aren’t ready to receive, but I will never, never underestimate the power of planting a seed! You WILL be welcomed here! You WILL have an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and fellowship here. You will be loved and accepted here. Come….join us…..We’ll make room for you!
